Welcome from the Director:
Thank you for your interest in Zen Shiatsu. As director I would like to formally invite you to our upcoming open house and introductory workshop. During the workshop we will introduce you to the basic body mechanics and philosophy behind our style. This is also a great opportunity to speak in person with faculty and current students about any questions you might have.
I am very proud of the program that we have developed here, and I want to do everything I can to encourage you to try a class. Our program is the only one of its kind in the area: expert-level training in Shiatsu Therapy meeting the vocational standards set by the State of Illinois and the AOBTA (American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia). It also includes the flexibility to take classes only for personal growth, if you are not seeking professional training.
The Zen Shiatsu vocational training program is designed around your busy schedule. We offer evening and weekend classes so that it is possible to work a full time job while completing your certification. The program can be completed in as few as two years, but there is no time limit on completing the program. Three initial levels of training may be taken as a non-matriculating student without commitment to the full program.
Financing options are available for students wishing to complete the entire Asian Bodywork Program. We offer scholarships, workstudy options, and 2-year or 4-year financing plans, which allow the program to fit most budgets.
We also encourage you to try out a shiatsu session, to feel the technique firsthand. Student Clinic Appointments are available on Tuesday nights at 7:00 and 8:00pm. The regular cost of these advanced student sessions is $30 each or $125 for a package of five sessions. Please call ahead to make an appointment, as space is limited. Professional treatments are available seven days a week at a variety of times, at the regular rate of $75 per hour.
